Forum Test and Measurements Research Paper

Whilst most of the technical test and and measurements are performed by Amir in this forum, a number of members including myself contribute measurements from time to time. I will probably be contributing more to this testing over the next year as I have more free time available (Yay! ) To help make this data more consistent, comparable and easy for the readership to understand, we really should define some standards that we work to. Also, Amir is the only one of us (that I know of) that has consistent access to what I consider “professional” test and measurement equipment. I do on occasions. Having said this some audio ADCs have excellent performance which puts them close to something like an AP and actually quite suitable for this sort of testing. Problem is we dont know how they compare in absolute terms to Amirs AP unit. So I suggest, for those that want to contribute to measurements, we could pass around a test unit (such as a dac) measure it consistently and see how they compare to validate our “domestic” measurement systems.Forum Test and Measurements Research Paper

1. Frequency response – 44, 48, 88 & 96 kHz replay bandwidth. Extend acquisition bandwidth beyond replay to show filter roll off and out of band noise
2. No signal noise floor
3. 1kHz tone @ 0dB, -1dB, -60dB FS. THD + Noise
4. 48kHz J test. USB and spdif input (if available)
5. Intermodulation 19kHz + 20kHz ???
6. Small signal time waveform 16 bit and 24 bit @ -90 something dB

The Marine Measurement Forum (MMF) convene regularly at  non-profit making events that provide opportunities for the informal exchange of ideas, knowledge, techniques and developments across an extensive range of marine scientific measurement activities.

The day will follow the familiar format of 20-minute presentations interspersed with networking breaks. Forum Test and Measurements Research Paper I would like to encourage all delegates who would like to present to register their talk on the website below.  It is anticipated that many delegates will be staying in Plymouth on the 14^th and therefore we have organised a networking/social dinner in the evening.  The diner has been arranged at the National Marine Aquarium and will commence with a drinks reception and tour of the aquarium.  Following the tour there will be a hot folk buffet, including drinks and dessert, in the Atlantic reef auditorium.  Costs for this event have been kept to a minimum thanks to generous sponsorship from both the Plymouth City Council and PML.

Plymouth Marine Laboratory in partnership with Plymouth City Council and other marine research organisations are hosting its first Marine Tech Expo on 14^th September 2016. The expo will be the first of a series designed to showcase Plymouth’s marine credentials across the world in the run up to the Mayflower 400 celebrations in 2020.  MMF delegates are encouraged to join this free event hosted at the new University of Plymouth Marine Station.  Further details and registration can be found on the website. If you are unable to make the full day event then you are strongly encouraged to join us for the Plymouth Gin reception (hosted by the University of Plymouth) and the tour of the facilities, commencing at 15:45.  Not only will you get the opportunity to visit the new facility but several Plymouth based assets will be on display, including research vessels and an array of scientific equipment.   Forum Test and Measurements Research Paper
